Studio policies
What students and parents ask us before the first lesson.
Photos of students
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to stay home
Please stay home with a fever or a stomach bug, and tell us by text or a call so we can offer your time to someone on the waitlist. A cold is fine for guitar; tell your teacher and come.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for severe weather and a few holidays, and we text by midday when weather closes the building. A lesson we cancel is made up.
Drop-off and pickup
Teens are met at the lesson room by the grown-up on their pickup list, or may leave on their own with a parent's written note. We ask for ID from anyone we don't know.
Watching a lesson or a show night
A parent may sit in on a teen's first lesson, and on any lesson by arrangement. Friday band lab nights are open to family and friends: arrive early, silence phones, and clap at the end of each song.
Stopping lessons
Tell us in writing a month before your last lesson, by email or at the front desk. We will explain what happens to a term in progress.
What to wear and bring
Wear what you can play in, and closed shoes in the band room, where amps and cables are on the floor. Bring a few picks, a tuner and a notebook.
Screens and phones
Phones stay in a pocket or a bag during a lesson. A teacher may ask to record a passage so you can practice from it at home.
Questions about how we work?
Ask at the front desk or at your placement visit. We would rather you ask.
